If Patrick Mahomes wins Super Bowl LVIII, he’ll have three Super Bowl rings and move into the upper echelon of quarterbacks in NFL history. But for Fox Sports’ Emmanuel Acho, he’ll still be behind two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning in the all-time rankings.
On today’s edition of Speak, Acho made the case that Manning needs to stay ahead of Mahomes on the all-time rankings because he was so integral to the success of everyone around him. Specifically, that Manning went to Super Bowls with four different head coaches, while Mahomes has found all of his success with Andy Reid alone.
“I know Peyton Manning had five coaches in the NFL. He took four of them to a Super Bowl. He went to four Super Bowls with four different head coaches, which means Peyton Manning was the system. You can argue whether it’s Pat or Andy Reid… Ain’t no arguing with Manning. Where Peyton Manning went, Super Bowls followed him. Period…” Acho said.
Though his numbers have since been surpassed, Peyton Manning retired as the NFL’s all-time leading passer and was the first player in NFL history to win Super Bowls as the starting quarterback for multiple teams.

Tom Brady’s legacy was cemented when he left the New England Patriots after winning six Super Bowls under Bill Belichick and won a seventh Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It’s ironic then that it might require Mahomes leaving the Chiefs or at least losing Andy Reid as his head coach in order to cement himself as an all-time great in Emmanuel Acho’s eyes.
Do you agree with Acho’s point? Is Peyton Manning better than Patrick Mahomes?
