We know who the Indianapolis Colts’ 2025 opponents will be, so how many of them are playoff teams from this past season?
To see the Colts’ full list of opponents this upcoming season, click here. But as far as 2024 playoff qualifiers go, Indianapolis will face six teams and play seven games against teams who just made the postseason.
This list of matchups includes facing Houston and Denver at home, along with going on the road to take on Houston, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, the LA Chargers, and the LA Rams.
Out of those teams, Houston, Kansas City, and the LA Rams all won a playoff game this postseason, with the Chiefs playing in the AFC Championship Game this upcoming week.
Also of note, while San Francisco and Miami didn’t make the playoffs this past season, both have made regular trips in recent years.
Obviously, the opponent plays a major role in determining a team’s strength of schedule, but other factors that can impact the difficulty of a schedule include where those games against top tier opponents are played–home or on the road–when the bye week is, if there are any extended road trips, and how much traveling each team has to do relative to their opponents.
At this time, we don’t know what most of those factors are for the Colts because we only know who the opponents in 2025 are and where the games are being played, not what week or times the games are taking place.
In determining the schedule, in order to create as much crossover as possible for divisional teams, the entire AFC South is playing the AFC West and the NFC West.
And with the Colts finishing second in the AFC South division, they will play the second place teams from the AFC North, NFC South, and the AFC East. Houston, for example, will play the first place teams from those divisions.
On the Colts’ 2024 schedule were six teams who made the playoffs in 2023.
