The Indianapolis Colts released the final injury report ahead of their Week 11 matchup with the New York Jets, which included linebacker EJ Speed being listed as questionable.
Speed would play 100 percent of the defensive snaps this past Sunday against Buffalo but popped up on the injury report on Wednesday with a knee injury. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday but a full participant in Friday’s practice–a positive sign.
Of note, it was a knee injury that kept him sidelined during the Colts’ Week 7 matchup with Miami. At this time, we do not know if Speed is experiencing the same injury now as he did last month.
Speed has totaled 79 total tackles this season for the Colts and seven quarterback pressures as a blitzer. He’s forced one pass breakup in coverage and came away with his first interception off of Josh Allen last week.
Despite the Colts being on a three-game losing streak, the defense has held its own, and done so against some good opponents.
Whether or not the Colts elevate a linebacker on Saturday will be telling when it comes to Speed’s availability.
If Indianapolis is without him, against the Dolphins after Jaylon Carlies exited the game with an injury, Grant Stuard took over as the nickel linebacker next to Zaire Franklin and in base, Segun Olubi joined them as the third linebacker on the field.
In addition to Speed being questionable, Bernhard Raimann has been ruled out and Michael Pittman will play.
