As an Indianapolis Colts fan, would you love to see Myles Garrett on your team? It’s safe to say that most Indy fans would say yes. Garrett, the superstar defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is easily one of the NFL’s best defenders.
Would the Browns even consider trading him? The answer is likely no. However, seeing that they’ve gotten off to a disastrous 1-6 start this season, anything is possible. They could be looking at shaking things up. They could be in “tank mode” especially with their quarterback Deshaun Watson out for the year. Cleveland traded Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills a couple of weeks ago.
Maybe Garrett will be next. If the Browns do make him available, the Colts should certainly consider picking him up.

Myles Garrett Has Had a Sensational Career
Myles Garrett started at Texas A&M for three seasons. He was named First Team All-SEC twice and won the Bill Willis Trophy in 2015. The Arlington, Texas native recorded 145 tackles (49 for loss) and 32.5 sacks during his collegiate career.
The Browns later selected Garrett with the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Despite missing five games due to injury, he still led Cleveland in sacks as a rookie with seven. He wound up making the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Garrett would have a great second season in 2018. He produced 13.5 sacks and was a second-team All-Pro.
During the 2020 campaign, Garrett helped the Browns reach the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. He was also named a First-Team All-Pro that season.
Garrett recorded 16 sacks in both 2021 and 2022. He won Defensive Player of the Year last year, helping current Colts backup quarterback Joe Flacco and Co. make the playoffs. So far this season, he has produced 17 tackles and four sacks for the struggling Browns.
Why the Colts Should Make the Trade
Again, Myles Garrett has had an impressive career. He has been named to three first-team All-Pros, and five Pro Bowls and earned an NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. With that said, any team would be ecstatic to land him. He would improve any team’s defense, providing elite help to the pass rush.
The NFL’s Nov. 5 trade deadline is right around the corner. If the Browns decide to trade Garrett by then, he would likely go to a team like the Detroit Lions. The 5-1 Lions are a Super Bowl Contender and they could use a replacement for the injured Aidan Hutchinson.
But what about the Colts? As every Indy fan knows, the defense has been an issue for the team this season. The Colts have accumulated 14 sacks this season, which ranks 24th in the league. Garrett would help out the likes of DeForest Buckner, who’s returning from injury soon, and rookie Laiatu Latu in the pass-rush department.
Trading for Garrett would be a huge move for the Colts. However, it likely won’t happen. Garrett will earn at least $19 million each season through 2016. Plus, Indianapolis would have to give up a boatload of draft picks in a deal. Colts general manager Chris Ballard is very conservative, meaning he’d surely pass on such a trade. Hopefully, a Myles Garrett-to-Indy deal happens, though, although it isn’t realistic.
