Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce would exit the team’s matchup last week against Denver in the first half with a concussion. He then entered concussion protocol on Monday.
Alec Pierce injury update
While still in concussion protocol, Pierce did not practice at all on Wednesday or Thursday, although he did return in a limited capacity on Friday. That is a good sign that he’s trending in the right direction, however, at that time, he was still in protocols and was ruled out of this week’s game against Tennessee.
Colts WR depth chart
Without Pierce, that will mean AD Mitchell sees a larger role in this week’s game. The Colts could also choose to lean on Ashton Dulin more as well–although he is also listed as questionable as he works through an ankle injury that he suffered in Week 12 against the Lions and hasn’t played since then.
During the Colts’ Week 10 game with Buffalo, Michael Pittman was out for that contest. So the Colts would slide Pierce over to Pittman’s usual role and Mitchell would take over for Pierce as the X receiver. For what it’s worth, that was Mitchell’s best game of the season, where he caught all six targets for 71 yards.
Awaiting the Colts offense is a Titans defense that is giving up a lot of points per game, but is a secondary ranked top 10 in yards per pass allowed.
