Former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Matt Ulrich passed away at the age of 41 this week.
The news was shared by Colts owner Jim Irsay on Wednesday morning, who is “heartbroken” by it.
“I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was with us only two seasons, but left his mark on many. Great guy, I hear he was a great dad—and he was a Super Bowl champ. My prayers to his family,” Irsay tweeted.
Ulrich won a Super Bowl in 2006 with the Colts after they defeated the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI. It marked his second season with the team after he joined the team in 2005.
Before he was with the Colts, he played his college football at Northwestern.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
