The newest Pro Football Hall of Fame class is slated to be announced this week and one ex-player who will be eligible in a few years is former Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan.
In an interview with Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Ryan was asked if he feels he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Without much hesitation, he said he does, citing his numbers and consistency.
“I do. The consistency that we had for a long time, and the production that we had in Atlanta, I think speaks to it. I understand that championships go a long way at the quarterback position, but I think the numbers speak for themselves. The consistency speaks for itself. I hope it’s something that happens one day. I’m proud of what I’ve done as a player and we’ll see what it happens.”
While he never won a Super Bowl and went just 2-5 in the postseason outside of the one year where he led them to the big game, he does have a case for Canton.
I asked Matt Ryan if he should be a Hall of Famer: “I do. … The numbers speak for themselves. The consistency speaks for itself. I hope it’s something that happens one day.”
