The Indianapolis Colts have listed six players as inactive ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bills. This includes wide receiver Michael Pittman, who was ruled out on Friday.
WR Michael Pittman
WR Anthony Gould
QB Sam Ehlinger
DT Adam Gotsis
DE Genard Avery
S Darren Hall
On game days, teams are only permitted to have 48 players active, so with Colts making one practice squad elevation on Saturday, six players have to be inactive for Sunday’s game.
Pittman was the only player on Friday’s injury report with an injury designation as he continues to work through a back injury that has been lingering for several weeks now.
While Pittman won’t play today, head coach Shane Steichen made it known that injured reserve is still not an option at this time. Instead, as Pittman and the team have done over the last month, they will take things week-to-week and see how he’s feeling heading into Week 11.
“At this point, everybody’s fighting through some type of thing, so it’s not like I’m doing anything that’s special, but we’re just taking it week to week and then just seeing where it goes,” said Pittman on Wednesday.
Without Pittman, the team elevated Laquon Treadwell from the practice squad. Although Anthony Gould is on the 53-man roster already, Treadwell provides added depth on the boundary–where Pittman plays–while Gould is a slot receiver.
Gotsis and Avery being inactive has been the norm for the Colts the last few weeks with them being healthy at defensive end and with DeForest Buckner back in the mix at tackle. Collectively, the defensive front is also a position of depth for the Colts, with 11 players from that unit on the 53-man roster.
The same can be said for Sam Ehlinger with Joe Flacco and Anthony Richardson both available. Ehlinger can still be called upon as the emergency quarterback if needed.
Lastly, Darren Hall just arrived to Indianapolis less than a week ago after the team claimed him on waivers after he was released by Arizona. All season, the Colts have had only four safeties active on gamedays, which they currently have even without Hall available.
