Back in December, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was found unresponsive at his home.
It was reported by TMZ that Irsay’s incident was classified as both “overdose” and “overdose/poisoning.” The Colts would eventually release a statement to let fans know that he’s “receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible.”
During an extensive interview with FOX59, Irsay addressed his health situation and his future in Indianapolis.
Irsay started off the interview by saying he didn’t have a drug overdose in December.
“It wasn’t an overdose,’’ Irsay told FOX59. “I don’t know why when you have your name in the paper in the past, people throw that out there quickly. I don’t pay attention to it all that much, but I don’t think it’s fair.’’
According to Irsay, the main issue was that he had a leg injury in the winter that only got worse.
Contradicting the official police incident report — responders logged it as a possible overdose — Irsay said he was “treating a leg injury’’ that had developed a serious hematoma.
Irsay is still recovering from this injury. As a result, he won’t be in the Colts’ war room for this week’s draft.
Hopefully, Irsay makes a full recovery in the coming months.
