What looked like an enticing matchup in Week 1 now looks like a sure trouncing
We finish off the week with what could have been one of the best matchups of the week, but is now an afterthought as the Detroit Lions make the trip west to visit the Niners in the bay. The Lions, one of the best teams in the NFL and fighting for their division with the Vikings, open up as 3.5-point favourites, with the OU for the game set at 50.5.
The Niners lost to the Dolphins last week, as their handicapped offense could not get anything going. Purdy’s wheels are starting to fall off without an All-star supporting cast surrounding him. At 6-9 and already out of playoff contention, the Niners are probably the team that wants this season to end the most, as probably everything that could go wrong for them actually did.
The Lions made easy work of the Bears, beating them 34-17 as Jared Goff had a near inmaculate day, throwing for three touchdowns. At 13-2, one would think that they have already won the division, but with the Vikings breathing down their neck, and a first round bye at stake, there is no room to relax.
Overall, because of what is at stake I would not go against the Lions here, but if there was a team capable of causing an upset and lending the Vikings a hand it could easily be the Niners, who have a much better roster than their record indicates.
