AFC matchup tonight with an interesting quarterback duel
And we are off for Week 9 as the New York Jets (- 134) host the Houston Texans (+ 114) up in East Rutherford, fresh off a World Series loss for the city of NY. Even though the Texans are 6-2 and the Jets are 2-6 the home team opens up as 2.5-point favourites, probably because this is a must win game for them and the Houstons are dealing with a ton of injuries and did not look good at all against the Colts last week. The OU for the game is currently at 42.5.
The Texans won their game last week against the Colts in what was a close game, and Houston won because they took full advantage of their opponents’ mistakes. Losing Nico Collins and Stephon Diggs really hurts their receiving core, and their offensive line looks like a mess right now, so the record is a bit misleading. Their pass-rush looks legit though, led by the dominant edge-rusher duo of Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
The Jets lost a shocker last week against the New England Patriots, as not even changing their head-coach and adding wide receiver Davante Adams to the mix helped. This is as must win as it gets for the Jets, who simply cannot afford falling to 2-7. Everyone needs to be playing much better in the organization, and a marquee win against an AFC contender would do wonders to help clear some of the ghosts in the locker room.
Overall I think this is definitely a game worth tuning in for, and really it could go either way. The Jets seem like a sleeping giant that need a couple wins to start putting things together, and I really enjoy watching C.J. Stroud play quarterback.
