The Indianapolis Colts were on the practice field for the first time on Thursday and released their second injury report of the week ahead of Week 17.
On Wednesday, the team held a walkthrough, so the injury report released was an estimation of what each player’s status would have been had there been practice.
As we do each day, let’s dive into what you need to know from the latest injury report.

– As was the case on Wednesday, both Mo Alie-Cox (toe) and EJ Speed (knee) were non-participants. For what it’s worth, last week, Alie-Cox missed the Wednesday and Thursday practices with a hip and returned on Friday before eventually playing against the Titans. Speed, meanwhile, did not practice at all last week and did not play on Sunday either. The practice status on Friday will be big for each player. Not that we haven’t seen veterans miss a week of practice and then still play on Sunday, however, that’s not a common occurrence either.
– Also a non-participant for the second day was Anthony Richardson. According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, the Colts are optimistic that Richardson will play this week but being at practice on Friday and how he looks while he’s out there will be important factors in that decision.
– Jaylon Carlies was upgraded from a non-participant to a limited participant. With uncertainty around Speed’s status, Carlies ability to play on Sunday will be important for the defense.
– And while Carlies was upgraded, Quenton Nelson was downgraded to limited on Thursday. Nelson is working through an ankle injury he sustained on Sunday, however, it kept him out for only two plays in a game where he was dominant as a run-blocker. With Nelson, I certainly wouldn’t say this is a concern, but we will put it in the “worth watching” category.
– JuJu Brents, Jaylon Jones, Alec Pierce, and Michael Pittman were all full participants for a second day–all good signs for their availability on Sunday.
