Following a Week 12 loss to the Detroit Lions, where do the Indianapolis Colts now fall in ESPN’s Week 13 power rankings?
The Colts entered the 2024 season at No. 18 on this list and have been as low as No. 28 following an 0-2 start, along with just about everywhere in between in what has been an up-and-down year.
A win in Week 11 over the New York Jets bumped the Colts up a spot to No. 19 a week ago, but a loss this past Sunday now has them at No. 21.
With the Lions being No. 1 in these power rankings, although the Colts now find themselves at 5-7, ESPN wasn’t going to ding them too hard.
Determining these rankings for ESPN are more than 80 writers, editors, and TV personalities evaluating each team’s performance and then ranking them from 1-32.
Against a team of Detroit’s caliber, a clean game was a requirement for the Colts if they were going to pull off the upset. However, Indianapolis had the opposite of that, with 10 penalties, several of which wiped out some explosive plays.
In addition to that, there were dropped passes and the offensive line struggled mightily.
Yet, despite the overwhelming number of miscues, Anthony Richardson backed up his performance in Week 11 with another strong and encouraging showing, even if the stat sheet didn’t reflect it. In a game where not a lot went right, Richardson’s play was the silver lining.
Next up for the Colts is a road matchup with the 3-9 New England Patriots, who come in at No. 27 in ESPN’s rankings. Of the Colts’ remaining five games on the schedule, four of them come against teams ranked 26th over lower in these power rankings.
