Who is the Indianapolis Colts’ most popular selection in Pro Football Focus’ mock draft simulator?
I’m sure you already know that answer, given who the Colts have taken in a litany of early 2025 NFL mock drafts.
It’s Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
The fit for Warren with the Colts makes all the sense in the world. Indianapolis has to get a lot more production in the passing game out of the tight end position and Warren was one of the most productive pass-catchers in college football last season with over 1,200 receiving yards.
But in addition to that, he also brings versatility to an offense as he’s able to line up all over the formation. He also has a well-rounded skill set, allowing him to impact the game as a blocker and fill a variety of roles.
Those elements–versatility and blocking ability–coupled with his ability in the passing game can create a layer of unpredictability for an offense. An added dimension for opposing defenses to account for, so to speak, and something the Colts just haven’t had with their current tight end room.
“Warren is a do-everything tight end whom any coach would love to input into their offense,” wrote PFF. “He isn’t a twitchy or flexible athlete who can unlock the whole route tree, but his versatility is incredibly valuable in the run and pass games — and worthy of a first-round selection.”
However, with all that said, and while we are seeing a lot of Warren mocked to the Colts, it’s certainly not a given he’s on the board when Indianapolis is picking.
Just about every team picking ahead of the Colts could benefit from Warren’s skill set in their offense. And, of note, one of the best in the business, Daniel Jeremiah, has Warren ranked as a top 10 prospect on his big board and had him as a top 10 pick in his first mock draft.
